Corinth, MS: 2019 Storm Damage

The afternoon of Saturday October 26th tropical storm Olga's remnants hit the city of Corinth, MS very hard. According to weather reporters, the eye wall of the storm is what hit us Saturday. It was almost like we had a hurricane right here in Corinth, MS. Surrounding counties and pretty much all of Northeast Mississippi was hit by this storm. This has caused a lot of devastation in Corinth. Trees were dropping left and right, power lines were down everywhere, homes were being destroyed, and over thousandths of people without power or hot water for days. This is the biggest storm we have had since the flood of May 2010. Alcorn County Electric Power Association (ACE) began Saturday with repairing and trying to restore power to areas to the businesses and restaurants in town and then so forth. ACE called in back up from in state and surrounding states electrical companies for help. There were over 70,000 in Northeast Mississippi without power and there were over 16,000 people without power in Alcorn County. ACE and all of the other power companies that have stepped away from their families and have traveled all the way to Corinth to assist ACE in restoring and repairing power we are truly grateful for them. Monday morning they were down to 1,800 people without power and they are still hard at work trying to fix issues and to completely restore power. ACE power, volunteers, churches, and the community have come together during this devastating time and helped restore Corinth to new. Saturday October 26th will never be forgotten but one thing we want forget is the men that put everything to the side to help restore Corinth from this tragedy.
